Household Use For Salt

• If you want to remove stubborn stains from your bath rub them with a half a lemon dipped in table salt.
• For red wine or ink that is spilt on your carpet you can cover the stain with an ample amount of salt and then leave it overnight to soak up all of the stain.
• Another use for salt is to sprinkle some into your shoes at night and then empty it in the morning for fresh and deodorised shoes.
• Use salt to stop ants from coming into your home by sprinkling it on the ant trails or wherever they like to enter from.
• To make cleaning your BBQ after use easier sprinkle a handful of salt onto it while it is still very hot. Allow to cool and then wipe clean.
• If you add ½ cup of salt to a coloured load of washing in will enhance the colours of the clothes because salt is used to set the coloured dye in the manufacturing process.
• If you have wicker baskets or furniture you can stop them from turning yellow by scrubbing them with saltwater and then allowing them to dry in the sun.
• Use salt for killing the weeds that grow along the cracks in your pavement, footpath or driveway. Just spray the weeds with a high concentrate salt water solution, or wipe a salt paste over them, and then pull the dead weeds out afterwards.
• Poison ivy is a real pest in the garden, but you can cheaply and easily kill it by pouring over it a solution made up of 1 cup salt dissolved in 2 litres of hot water. The new growth on the poison ivy is most vulnerable to this solution.
• When gardening you should place any snails and slugs that you find in a container and then pour salt onto them and watch them actually disappear.
• If you have some tarnished silverware then try this cheap and easy polishing use for salt. Simply rubbing the silverware with some salt and you will soon have a chemical-free shine.
