  • If you have got a problem with mildew in your bathroom or laundry a great house cleaning tip is to try using a combination of vinegar and baking soda to remove it. Simply mix them together and when it starts to bubble begin scrubbing away the mildew on the walls and ceiling.
  • If you have run out of self-raising flour you can easily make some by adding 1 cup of plain flour and two teaspoons of baking powder. Alternatively you can use 1 teaspoon Cream of Tartar and half a teaspoon Bicarb Soda instead of the baking powder.
  • Pet owners can give their dog a freshen up between their baths by sprinkling bi-carb soda into their fur, rub and then comb or brush it out.
  • To remove the acid build on the battery terminals of your car or truck make a foam from 3 parts baking soda and 1 part water and brush it over both the positive and negative terminals. Make sure that you dry the battery terminals properly afterwards before starting the vehicle.
  • Around your house you can remove oily stains from your garage, driveway and concrete paths by sprinkling baking soda over the area and then scrubing it clean with a wet brush or stiff broom.
  • Wipe your car windscreen with a damp cloth dipped in bi-carb soda on the outside to repel rain and on the inside to resist condensation.
  • Baking soda will safely and effectively put any any sort of fires in your kitchen, garage or household, including the more dangerous electrical and grease fires which should never have water put on them.
  • If your household has a septic tank you can flush a cup of bicarb soda down the toilet every week or two to help control odours and maintain the proper pH in the septic.
  • You can easily remove crayon or marks on your house walls by rubbing them gently with a damp cloth sprinkled with bi-carb soda.
  • If you have dirty, mouldy and smelly shower curtains in your bathroom you can soak them in a bucket of water with ½ cup of bicarbonate of soda in order to clean them.
  • Put bicarbonate soda in your house's ashtrays so that any cigarettes don't smoulder and the ashtray itself doesn't let the smell of smoke permeate to the rest of the house.
