Therefore it is good to know that you can use a natural product like baking soda for deodorising and removing nasty smells from all sorts of different things around your house.

  1. Clean Dishwasher With Baking Soda    
    A fast and very effective way to clean your dishwasher is to place a tablespoon of Baking Soda into the bottom of the dishwasher a few hours before you turn it on next. Doing this will get rid of any bad odours in the dishwasher, as well as acting as a gentle cleanser during the next wash cycle.

    If you have dirty and smelly drains in your kitchen, bathroom or laundry then you can deodorise and freshen them up by using baking soda. All you need to do is to place half a cup baking soda down the sink or basin and then after a few minutes pour into the drain a litre or so of warm tap water.

  5. Deodorize Your Refrigerator With Baking Soda    
    If you want to effectively absorb any bad smells and keep your fridge smelling nice and fresh you can place a half opened packet of baking soda at the back your refrigerator. After a couple of weeks replace the pack with another half opened pack in order to keep deodorizing your fridge. An added tip that is very practical is to not throw out the old baking soda packet, but instead pour it down the kitchen or laundry sink to deodorize it as well.
  6. Remove Foot Odour With Bi-carb Soda    
    If you suffer from the embarrassing problem of having smelly feet then you can remove foot odour by simply dusting your feet and/or shoes with bi-carb soda. Doing this will not only help to eliminate any bad odours from your feet but will also absorb any moisture between your toes where the odour causing bacteria thrive. Also to remove odours from smelly shoes just sprinkle a little bit of baking soda into each shoe and leave it there for 2-3 days to absorb.
  7. Use Baking Soda On Kids Stuffed Toys    
    In order to effectively freshen up and deodorize your children's stuffed toys simply sprinkle them with a small amount of baking soda, leave them for 15 minutes and then brush it off. Other kids toys that have hard plastic, metal or wooden surfaces can by easily cleaned by wiping them with a solution of baking soda and water.
  8. Deodorise Sports Bags With Bicarbonate Soda    
    You can use bicarbonate soda to deodorise your smelly gym, golf or sports bags. All you need to do is to empty the bag, sprinkle the bi-carb soda inside, leave it in there for 15-30 minutes and then vacuum it out leaving the bag smelling fresh and clean.
  9. Deodorize Carpets With Baking Soda    
    Often areas of carpet in your house will need deodorizing because they get smelly and dirty, either by having feet constantly wiped on them or food and drink spilt on the carpet. To effectively deodorize these areas of carpet just sprinkle some baking soda over the area, leave it for a 5-10 minutes and then vacuum it up.
  10. Use Bicarbonate Soda On Pet's Bedding    
    If you have a bed for your dog or cat that is getting a little bit smelly and needs deodorizing then you can use bicarbonate soda to do so. Bicarbonate soda is safe to use on your dog or cat's bedding and all you need to do to eliminate the odours is to sprinkle some onto the bedding material and vacuum it up after 30 minutes.
